Mpika clothing industry on cards

THE establishing of a clothing manufacturing industry in Mpika will take off next month after the Zambia Environmental and Management Authority (ZEMA) approved the 10, 000 hectares of land for the project.

Mupika Cerly Culture and Silk Industry, a local firm, has entered into partnership with Chinese owned Wonderful Group.
Chief Chikwanda of Mpika said the project was expected to start next-month and that the Republican President Edgar Lungu would be invited for the launch next year in April.
The traditional leader has disclosed that the project has a total investment of $25 million.
Chief Chikwanda owns Mupika Cerly-Culture and Silk Industry with a 49 percent shareholding in the project while Wonderful Group has injected in a 51 percent.
The traditional said once the project was in full operational, it would create more than 2, 000 job opportunities.
