A CLERGY man and family of Maherebe Congregation of the Reformed Church in Zambia in Manyika ward, Chongwe whose house was gutted about three weeks ago yesterday received help from their area member of parliament.

Chongwe Member of parliament, Japhen Mwakalombe who visited the family during his tour of the constituency pledged to help in reconstructing the gutted house.
The house caught fire when a child accidentally pulled a motorbike which was packed in the living room to the ground. The fuel tank on the motorbike opened and fuel splashed towards a brazier. The house caught fire unexpectedly as three family members were in the house.
The fire swept through the entire house destroying all the property. Fortunately, the family members managed to escape and no life was lost although the man of the house suffered minor burns on his right foot
The Lawmaker was touched by the gravity of the situation and handed over 25×50 kg bags of cement s part of his pledge to help in reconstructing the house.
He assured the clergy that he would help to rebuild the entire house.
He further bemoaned the increase of house fires in the constituency. He urged residents to avoid storing flammable substances such as petrol in houses.
And the recipient, Pastor Leonard Zulu thanked the lawmaker for the donation and pledge. He disclosed that everything in the house was gutted.
He observed that rural Churches were financially handicapped and as such the help was highly appreciated.
