Athletics given green light

THE Zambia Athletics (ZA) has announced resumption of full activities following the 18 March 2020 suspension as a result of the rise in coronavirus cases that were recorded in the country.
Association general secretary Davison Mung’ambata confirmed in a statement saying all activities can resume under the ‘new normal’.
“We advise that the activities can now resume in our respective clubs and provincial areas to prepare for the re-opening of the qualifying tournament in December 202 as advised by the world athletics. All administrative issues such as provincial elections that were deferred can also resume.
“All clubs, Area boards are advised to follow covid-19 guidelines that were circulated by the national sports council of Zambia in June 2020 which we have attached to you,” reads the letter in part.
Mung’ambata has also advised the clubs to provide the basic requirements for covid-19 such as hand washing, sanitization, mask and maintenance of social distance.
