Council driver commits suicide

...Solwezi Police say body found near car wreck

A 34-year-old Mwinilunga Town Council driver has allegedly committed suicide shortly after surviving a road accident.

The employee took his live soon after surviving the accident in which the council vehicle got damaged extensively.

North-western province Commissioner of police, Elias Chushi, confirmed the incident which occurred yesterday around 09:00 hours in Stadium area in Solwezi.

He identified the deceased as Kosta Lopesi.

Mr Chushi victim while driving a Toyota Hilux registration number BAE 5063, careered off the road and overturned due to excessive speed.

He explained that upon seeing that the vehicle had been extensively damaged, Lopesi hurriedly hanged himself to a tree in the nearby bush using a seat belt cut from the driver’s seat.

He said the body of the deceased had been deposited in Solwezi General Hospital mortuary awaiting burial.
