Thieves den busted

...Cops raid, demolish criminals' hideout in the brush

POLICE in Lusaka yesterday raided and demolished some hide-out structures which housed criminals in the bush near Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) Road.

The criminals who have been terrorising and constantly tormenting residents of Lusaka’s Meanwood area had set up camps in the bush where they went to hide after stealing.

According to acting Police spokesperson Danny Mwale, during the swoop which took place yesterday, one male suspect identified as KalungaNgesa aged 43 of Kamanga compound was apprehended while two others were on the run.

“They are constructed in the Airport bush located between Airport road and Vorna Valley.

“One male suspect identified as Kalunga Ngesa aged 43 of Kamangacompound has been apprehended while two are on the run,” Mr Mwalesaid.

Mr Mwale said the place raided, had become very notorious as criminals converged and strategize their criminal activities.​

“Whenever they steal, they take the stolen items to the same bush and hide them, then later transport and sale them,” he said.
