A 39-YEAR-OLD man of Kafue has been dragged to court for stealing two mattresses, four blankets and one empty bucket all together valued at k1,600 property of Angela Mutelo.
Appearing in the Kafue magistrate court before Magistrate Moffat Phiri was Luck Hara accused of house breaking and theft hence committing a felony.
It is alleged that on April 13 in Kafue district, Hara did break and entered into the dwelling house of Angela Mutelo with intent to commit a felony there in stealing two mattresses, four blankets and one bucket all valued at K1,600.
Witness, Angela Mutelo told the court on April 11 she went for business with her husband in Nankanga, Chilanga district and left the house locked.
On April 13, around 19:00 hours a neighbour called them and said the window was seen open, and on 23 April the couple returned and discovered some properties were missing.
Mutelo said she then reported the matter to the police and after a while she heard James Banda saying he knew who stole her mattress.
James Banda told the court that on the fateful day around 12:00 hours, Hara brought the mattress to him for safekeeping.
“Hara came with a mattress at my house and said I should keep for him since his brother had chased him. It did not sit well with me, so I took the matter to the village head man,” he said.
The matter come up on 26 June for continued trial.
