A 44-YEAR-OLD man of Mtendere has died after being attacked by a mental patient.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo who confirmed the incident identified the deceased as Chama Mpundu and identified the mental patient as Royd Chingola aged 44.
She said that the incident happened in Chongwe at Shibali village.
Ms Katongo said that the deceased is reported to have accompanied his friend Edwin Saili to Chongwe to visit his relatives but whilst there, they were attacked by the suspected mental patient who is related to Saili.
She said that the suspect used a plank of wood in the act and that deceased sustained head injuries.
Ms Katongo said that the suspect is in police custody while the body of the deceased in Chongwe Hospital mortuary.
