Siwale bemoans football disharmony

MUKWIMA CHILALA writes

SOCCER administrator Blackwell Siwale says Zambian Football is where it is today because of selfishness among amongst leaders whose only interest is to safeguard their positions in office.

And Siwale says the current Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) constitution was designed only to safeguard positions in office and not meant for football development.

Siwale said that he had always been proponent of unity in Zambian football and that if he were still in the executive the ā€˜campsā€™ scourge could have been a thing of the past.

He says that he was elected into the FAZ executive committee alongside several administrators and was not part of any perceived camp but remained committed to developing football.

The former FAZ executive committee member, who was speaking when he appeared on the Bola Review show on Millennium Radio, said that the most contentious issue in Zambian football at the moment was the constitution.

He said the document was not designed in the interest of football but instead designed to perpetuate some peoplesā€™ stay in office.

He noted that it was a self-serving scheme was making other administrator like him look bad in the eyes of the global audience.

Siwale suggested an Emergency Council Meeting was the best way of dealing with the several contentious issues that has engulfed football.

He highlighted that the current FAZ executive was in office outside of the FAZ Constitution and the expectation was that councillors would be able to make independent decisions on the administration of football in the country.
