THE Mumbwa based shop in which two Chinese nationals were gruesomely hacked to death allegedly by their ex-employee on June 21 has re-opened to the public under a new management.

But the ‘Sun Share Shop’ has however become a major centre of attraction to curious members of public who are filling it up daily to visit the scene where the killings took place.

The re-opening of the shop was confirmed yesterday by Mumbwa district commissioner Felix Ndopu who said the outlet opened its doors to shoppers early this month.

Mr Ndopu however could not give further details as he was locked up in a meeting, but only said the shop was opened by other Chinese nationals.

According to the residents of the town, many shoppers were frequenting the shop to take pictures of places where the two shop owners (a couple) Jinrong Yon 53, and his wife Zuming Hu 49 lost their lives allegedly at the hands of their former worker Kenny Figo who was arrested in Lusaka and currently appearing in court on murder charges.

The residents are however joyful that the shop has re-opened as it has everything under one roof and shoppers were also enjoying lay bye facilities to make spending a pleasure.

The killing of Jinrong and his wife Zuming which almost brought tears to many Zambians was captured on a CCTV video.

The 26 year old suspect of Katala Village in Mumbwa worked for the victims as a salesman.

The couple, whose heads were chopped off around 20:00 hours, had opened a big shop in Mumbwa and were believed to be living behind their trading place where they were killed.

It has now emerged that the couple was actually living inside the shop, something that the new owners have been discouraged from doing.

According to police the suspect used an axe to kill the two. Their bodies were then transferred to UTH for postmodern.
