Oklahoma – An evil mum who police say forced her starved children to eat dog poo leaving them with worms has avoided jail.
Mary Elizabeth Moore, 34, was handed two seven-year suspended sentences on Friday after pleading no contest to child neglect charges.
She was charged in April after her two kids – aged five and three – were hospitalised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with severe malnutrition.
The five-year-old weighed just 1st 12lbs and the three-year-old weighed 1st 4lbs at the time.
They were placed on feeding tubes and developed re-feeding syndrome before they managed to put on any weight, Tulsa World reports.
The eldest child, a girl, told Department of Human Services workers that she had been forced to eat dog fae-ces.
CONTRACTED WORMS
Police said that tests on the children showed they had parasitic pinworms – which they would have contracted from eating dog waste.
Both children were later placed into state custody.
Authorities said Moore had a history of neglecting her children – who were suffering from “protein-calorie mal-nutrition”.
Moore’s defense attorney Ken Gallon said yesterday that she doesn’t admit wrongdoing – but took a plea offer from prosecutors.
