IN the quest to revive its lost fortunes legendary football side Lusaka Tigers has embarked on a road map to put itself back in the soccer spotlight.
Its chairman Colonel Teddy Njobvu said the club has since embarked on a serious fund-raising exercise to bring the club back to life.
Njovu told Sun sport that the objective of fundraising was to sensitize members of the community, especially in Matero where the club was based on the need to support it and its existence.
He said the money raised from braai would go to the operations of the team ahead of the new season.
The club which was founded in 1957 in Matero has experienced a nosedive which has seen the side playing in the third tier league having been demoted from division one two seasons ago.
“We are also planning a fundraising walk which will help to sensitize members of the Matero community that this is their team, it’s still in existence and needs their support,
“So are basically just telling them that this Lusaka Tigers team is your club which is run by you and it needs your support,’’ Njobvu said.
Njovu explained that whatever monies raised from the walk will go towards the operations of the club while those from the braai would help fund the upcoming season which starts next month.
And Njobvu said the Matero-based division two side was ready for the upcoming season as it had done everything to prepare the team from an administrative point of view.
He said the team had undergone a major overhaul which had seen it bring in new players having also sold some of its other players.
He said club now had a better team than it had in the transitional league last season.
The fundraising efforts were also being supported by many personalities which also included area member of Parliament for Matero Lloyd Kaziya.
