FAILED TRIP CALAMITY …as stakeholders now want Andrew Kamanga and his general secretary Adrian Kashala to resign

MUKWIMA CHILALA writes

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga and his general secretary Adrian Kashala must step down for their failure to send the Under- 20 women soccer team to the on-going All Africa Games in Morocco

In the ensuing backlash from various stakeholders, Chingola based soccer administrator Blackwell Siwale said the failed trip must be disheartening to the girls.

Siwale told the Sun sport that the people behind the girls’ soccer team’s travel debacle needed to be made accountable.

The former FAZ committee member who is also an aspiring presidential candidate challenged Kamanga and Kashala to step down for what he termed failure to provide leadership.

“Starting from the current president, coming to the general secretary who is the head of the secretariat, both must own up, whoever is in charge of the girls failure to travel must own up and leave the stage for other people that have the passion to run football,’’

“Failure to appear in Morocco is disheartening to our young girls because they had hoped that once they are there, they would showcase their skills and scouts are there who could have picked three or four players to remain in Morocco and later go to France or anywhere European country to sharpen their skills,” Siwale said.

Another Copperbelt-based Soccer administrator Ricky Mamfunda said the reasons advanced by FAZ to justify the failure by the under 20 to travel to the continental games were not satisfying.

Manfunda said the Zambians needed proper reasons and not the ones that had been advanced so far.

“When the girls finished as runners -up to Tanzania in the recently held COSAFA Under-20 Women’s Championships, I personally called on FAZ and other stakeholders to work together and nurture these girls and help them develop their talent,

“We are still waiting for a proper reason why the girls have not travelled and we shall not rest until a satisfactory answer is given or until someone takes responsibility for this mess,” Mamfunda said.

FAZ and Ministry of sport are at loggerheads blaming each other for the Morocco fiasco.
