Casilli has not abandoned City of Lusaka FC

Dear Editor,

Claims that Mr. Casilli has abandoned City of Lusaka Football Club are far from the truth.

On the contrary, he has invested and continues, to invest in the football side of the business.

In fact, he has demonstrated that he has the interests of the football club at heart by releasing more than K1 million to enable the club buy a team bus and invest in new players for the upcoming season.

Mr Casilli pumps in approximately K 1.5 million per annum into the club.

The coaching staff led by former international Kenneth Malitoli has been given the leeway to identify up to six potential signings who will be able to strengthen the team immediately.

And to further motivate the players, by increasing their salaries.

Clearly, Mr Casilli has demonstrated that he is ready to change the fortunes of not only the football club but the wider community in which City of Lusaka operates from by providing employment opportunities to locals.

Mr Chilongo, despite being banned by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has continued to disparage City of Lusaka in a clear attempt to remain, or at least appear, to be relevant.

To put matters clear, the so-called City of Lusaka Football Club 1970 where he served as General Secretary, was deregistered last year by the Ministry of Home Affairs while FAZ banned him for life due to his behaviour.

All his colleagues who served with him in the executive of the club have since moved on except him.

As it is, Mr Chilongo is masquerading as an official for City of Lusaka when in fact not. This borders on criminality.

We can only advise any responsible media not to entertain Mr Chilongo especially when he speaks in his capacity as a City of Lusaka official.

If there are clarifications to be made involving City of Lusaka, the club stands ready at all times to respond to them.

For Mr Chilongo, we have some unresolved issues with him. When he served as the club’s chief executive officer in 2017, there was misapplication of funds.

A lot of players such as midfielders Edward Tembo and Clement Mundia were sold to Zesco United and Kabwe Warriors respectively yet the club did not receive the money.

We don’t know who gained from this transaction. To get to the bottom of the matter, we have decided to report Mr Chilongo to the Zambia Police for impersonating as a City of Lusaka official.
