A WOMAN of Lusaka’s Kasisi area has sued her husband for divorce over his promiscuous lifestyle.

Purity Masuwa,33 sued her husband Given Sumuka,37, a camera man of the same area for divorce in the Chelstone Local Court.

Masuwa told senior magistrate Charity Milambo that the two got married in 2008 and have three children together.

She said they had been having problems in their marriage because her husband had become unfaithful.

“My husband is a womaniser, we once reconciled and he promised to change but nothing has happened because he has continued with his girlfriend,

“He usually comes home late. I used to cook for him, wash but still goes to his girlfriend. He talks to his girlfriend in my presence and even downloaded her pictures on Facebook and puts them in our family picture frame,” she told court.

Masuwa said Sumuka sometimes brought plates with food from his girlfriend and refused to eat what she cooked.

“Apart from this woman, he impregnated another woman and was charged damage which he is paying through court. He doesn’t buy lotion or soap for me I do this all myself,”

“I stopped washing for him and sleeping in the bedroom after he beat me,” Masuwa said

In defence Sumuka denied all the allegations against him and said he was opposed to divorce because of children.

“We have challenges in the house since we got married, she refuses to go to the farm, doesn’t respect me as a husband and refuses to cook for me,

“She has been denying me sex for some time now. We have been coming to court for marriage reconciliation but doesn’t work, this is the sixth time. I used to force her to have sex with me,” Sumuka said

The court adjourned the matter to a later date for continued hearing.
