Monze man in court for defiling minor?

A 23 YEAR – OLD man has pleaded not guilty before the Monze Magistrate court to defilement charge of a 4 year old minor.

 Appearing before Magistrate Leah Kabalata was, Mr Abraham George Samba, a shop keeper from Manungu Compound, in Monze District charged with Child Defilement contrary to section 138(1) of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the matter are that between the months of February and May, in Monze, Samba had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl child under the age of 16.

 Giving testimony the arresting officer Constable Charity Hazeele, recalled that on June 3, she received a complaint of defilement from the victim’s mother, who suspected that her daughter was being defiled, but only believed it when she caught the accused in the act.

The accused denied the allegation but admitted to being left alone with the victim on several occasions and that after investigation, Constable Hazeele gathered enough evidence and arrested the accused.

The matter comes up on July 15 for trial.
