Solwezi Municipal Council (SMC) is to put up barricades on its Independence Road to reduce accidents at nearby Kyawama market.

In a press release Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga confirmed that the contractor to put up the structures was already on site and ready to commence with the works.

“The purpose of the fence is to ensure safety of marketeers and known vendors because as you know the market is on a very busy road that leads in and out of our district”, he said.

Mr Luanga further urged the general public to allow the contractor complete the works in the scheduled time for all duties to be resumed.

He apologized for any inconvenience caused to members of public during the time the project would be under construction

“For the project to be completed in due course, I would like the general public to follow the paths created for them to move in an orderly manner if the works are to be completed quickly”, he added.
