The Boma Local Court in Lusaka has reconciled a couple married after the wife initially sued for divorce alleging the man was promiscuous.
Mwamba Ntumba, 29, a businesswoman of Makeni told Senior Presiding Magistrate Sharon Sichone that she wanted the court to divorce her and her husband, Teddy Kasongo, 35, because she was fed up with him troubling her with his many prostitutes.
‘We have four children and he tells me he will make me and the children suffer. He refuses to pay school fees for the children and does not buy food at home,
“He sleeps out and comes in the morning and gives me a K50. He is always emphasizing that he will make me suffer and that he will run away to Tanzania with his girlfriend,” Ntumba said.
In defence Kasongo told the court that he still wanted to stay in the marriage.
“We married in 2008 and I paid US$200 as dowry and all the necessary requirements. I cannot accept divorce because my children are very young, 7, 6, 4 and 3 years old. I am the one who travels to bring orders and she just receives,” he said.
The court however managed to reconcile the couple.
