Local filmmaker and actress Cassie Kabwita is currently in Nigeria working on a new film to be called ‘Off Duty’.

Kabwita famously called King Cassie because of her dedicated approach to promoting gender balance and equity begins shooting the movie this week, which she says will have a deep African feel.

“The film will be shot in Enugu State, the heart of Nollywood movies. On this one, I have done the writing and I am also doing the producing. This is one movie I pray will be big and create that African effect because I want to work with the best,” she said in telephone interview from Nigeria.

“I am working with Nigeria’s Okechukwu Oku as director. Okechukwu Oku is popularly known as the Oracle in Nigeria. He is one of the biggest film directors in there and has made a lot of award-winning movies. I am very happy to work with him.”

Meanwhile, Kabwita revealed that she also featured in an all Nigerian production film called ‘His Queen’.
“I have featured in my first epic film where I played a role of a typical Igbo Princess. My character is Princess Nkiru, daughter of late Kind Arinze of Odum Kingdom,” she added.
Locally, Kabwita has featured in Kwacha, a gender-based violence movie that has won her several awards. She also worked with other filmmakers like Owas Ray Mwape and others on productions like ‘Guilt’ and ‘Love
