Referee Andrew Chungu dies

Zambia’s referees physical trainer, Andrew Chungu has died.

Chungu who was a local and international match commissioner,  also acted as physical trainer for Football Association of Zambia (FAZ)  referees.

FAZ said it had learnt with dismay the passing away of Chungu, who died while on duty with the Zambia Army his employers.

In a statement made available to The Sun sport by FAZ communications manager Mwazi Sakala Chanda, said the association extended its condolences to the Chungu family.

Chanda said that in the game of football, a referee played a key role in ensuring a fair outcome within the prescribed time.

 “On behalf of Football Association of Zambia president Andrew Kamanga and the FAZ administration we wish to appeal to the football fraternity to band together and support the development of football,” said Chanda
