RISING CRIME IN LUSAKA

That criminal gangs are on the rise in Lusaka is not a big surprise. The truth is that our police are too relaxed.

To think that it is merely young boys born only yesterday that have turned into criminals, and which police have to deal with is simply mind-boggling and at worst, a national scandal.

Matero, Mtendere, Makeni Villa, Chibolya, Kamanga, Kabangwe, just to mention a few compounds have become no-go areas for our police because criminals are reigning high.

I hear these criminals often lurk in the numerous bars and night clubs where they spend their time and stolen money from innocent citizens.

Yes, Lusaka has bars and night clubs which operate outside the law and have become dens for criminals and since there no one to check on them, Lusaka residents are condemned forever to these attacks from criminals.

I can therefore safely say the buck actually stops at our IG Mr Kakoma Kanganja who appears to have failed in coming up with a workable formula to bring down these high levels of crime currently obtaining in the capital city.

Let police from time to time raid these drinking places, and they will not be disappointed. Do I really have to tell them this?
