A Lusaka woman, of Garden House area, has sued her husband, also of same area, for divorce because he is violent and one time burnt her clothes.

Lillian Chanda,33, told Matero Local Court Magistrate Harriet Mulenga sitting with Pauline Newa that she wanted her marriage to Albert Chanda,39, to end because it had been full of problems.

Chanda told the court that they got married in 2004 and have four children but that they had never lived well in their marriage which was full of problems.

“On several occasions he burnt my clothes. Last Sunday he even broke the plates from the display cabinet because he was the one who bought them,

“The other day I was standing outside our house with my aunt around 20.00 hours Albert appeared on the scene carrying a screw driver in his hands which he said he wanted to push in my aunt’s anal area and started chasing her around,” said Chanda

When she intervened in the matter he beat her up, adding that later Albert locked up the house so that she could spend the night outside.

“ I said it was ok I would sleep outside then he came out to beat me in front of our children, he then chased my sister out of the house saying I was a prostitute, claiming he found me outside with a man and continued insulting me,”

“I started running away but he chased me and picked a huge stone and hit me with it and I fell down. He followed me and continued beating me. I haven’t been shaving his pubic hair for six months I don’t know who does it,” said Chanda.

She further complained that her husband would bring condoms home and tell her they should be shared between her and his lover.

“He told me these are yours I’m from using the others with my lover. I want this marriage to end because I will die in his hands,” Chanda

In defence Albert said on the material date around 22.00 hours he saw a man behind his wife at their home.

“I saw a man behind her, bending when he saw me he turned and went away, I asked her what she was doing there, she said it is her body she is using it and if I wanted I could use mine as well,

“This woman does not listen to me” said Albert”

The matter comes up for judgment on March 28.
