Zambia’s 2019 envoy to ‘Coke Studio Africa’ Chef 187 says he did not in any way feel compelled to change his style of rapping in vernacular despite going to an international platform.
The rapper who featured at the Coke Studio Africa music project that brings various artistes together to work on collaborations said during the official launch of the Coke Studio Africa 2019 TV show last week that he chose to maintain his style and did not feel forced to rap in English.
Chef 187 emphasized that his stint at the Coke Studio that was filmed in Kenya gave him a deeper understanding of African music and helped him sell his country.
“I had a wonderful experience and I learnt a lot about how our friends push the music,” said Chef 187 who becomes the second Zambian artiste to feature at the project.
Last year, musician Mwila Musonda, famously known as SlapDee was the country’s main representative and raised the bar high.
Chef 187 is eager is to keep the Zambian flag high and probably get more exposure and do collaborations that will help him promote Zambian music.
