A 23 YEAR old man of Wusakile Township has been sentenced to 9 months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing an Engine block.

Brain Tembo appeared before Resident Magistrate Malota Phiri for plea when he pleaded guilty to one count of theft.

Tembo said he stole the engine block because he was in need of money and intended to sell and raise some funds .

Particulars of the offence are that in January 8 this year in Kitwe, Tembo jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown did steal one Engine block valued at K3,500, property of Mwansa Lombe.

Tembo stole the engine when he went to Lombe’s workshop and wanted to sell it to  raise some money.

And in mitigation Tembo said he was remorseful of his action and if given another chance he would never steal again and pleaded for forgiveness and leniency from the court.

Magistrate Phiri said he had considered the facts and mitigation and the fact the Tembo was a first offender who deserved leniency and therefore sentenced him to 9 months imprisonment with hard labour effective January 15 this year.
