Head teacher accused of money laundering

Kasempa boy’s secondary school head teacher and assistant accountant have pleaded not guilty to the charges of theft by public servant and money laundering.

This is in a matter where Charlton Kangasa, 56, a head teacher and his assistant accountant, Willie Mulenga, 50, are jointly charged for theft by public servant and money laundering.

The duo appeared  before Kasempa Resident Magistrate, Sandras Samakayi to take plea.

Particulars of the offence in count one where that the duo is charged of theft by public servant and  that on unknown dates between January 1, 2019 and October 6, 2020 in Kasempa district while working under the ministry of general education did whilst acting together steal K 27,510 property of the government  of Zambia.

In the second count, the duo is charged of money laundering, where it is alleged that on unknown dates but between January 1, 2019 and October 6, 2020 in Kasempa district did engage in money laundering by receiving, K 27,510 a property of the government of Zambia.

Magistrate Samakayi read the charges to the accused persons who pleaded not guilty to the Charges. Magistrate Samakayi adjourned the matter to the February 8, 2021 for commencement of trail and extended their police bonds.
