Truck ferrying 250 Mukula logs caught in Nakonde

POLICE in Nakonde have impounded a truck carrying Mukula logs, Muchinga Province Commissioner of Police Joel Njase has confirmed.

Mr Njase said the incident occurred on Friday around 02:30 hours at Wulongo check point.
He said the Scania truck loaded with 250 logs of Mukula was being driven by a Tanzanian Edward Kaaya, aged 36 of Dar es Salaam.
Mr Njase said the driver of the truck is in police custody while the truck has been parked at ZAMESCO.
Meanwhile, investigations have revealed that the truck is believed to have been loaded in Chinsali and was destined to be exported through Nakonde border.
