A resident of Mwinilunga Abel Lukanganyama has built a mourners’ shelter at Mwinilunga district hospital using his own resources.

Mr Lukanganyama who is in his 60s said in an interview that he decided to build a shelter as a way of supplementing government efforts.
“I just thought of supplementing government efforts by constructing the mourners’ shelter here at the district hospital because I believe we cannot leave everything to government alone,” he said.
He called on the general citizenry to be patriotic by making personal contributions towards various needs of society.
“It doesn’t matter how much you put in, but the motive behind the contribution is what matters most,” he said.
He mentioned that individual contributions aimed at addressing challenges faced in communities though small, are important as they reduce dependence on government.
He said he was compelled to build the facility because of the challenges people go through as they go to collect bodies of their beloved ones.
He also disclosed that he has embarked on the construction of a cultural village which will be a recreation facility for the local people espe-cially the youths.
