‘Fake documents’ for loan lands business woman in trouble

A BUSINESS WOMAN of Kalingalinga in Lusaka has appeared in a Chongwe magistrate’s court for allegedly presenting false documents in an attempt to acquire a loan from a finance lending institution.

This is in a case in which 32-year-old Agnita Chisanga is charged with three counts – impersonating a public official contrary to Section 102 Chapter 87, uttering false documents contrary to Section 352 Chapter 87 and forgery contrary to Section 342 of the penal code Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Chisanga is alleged to have attempted to fraudulently obtain a loan from Good Fellow Lending Institution in Chongwe.
She allegedly presented herself as a public officer by using documents belonging to Grace Namukonda of NRC number 407830/68/1. She presented the NRC and pay slip of named person.
The court heard that the loan manager, Ms Beatrice Mubanga who conducted a check noticed inconsistencies in her verification. She then called the police who took her for questioning. It was later discovered that the documents did not belong to her.
Chisanga denied the charge whem she took plea before magistrate Kabwe Tembo.
The court recorded a plea of not guilty and adjourned the case to 28 October for mention and 11 November for commencement of trial. She was remanded in custody.
