Mucheleka, three others appear in court

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka and his three co-accused persons on Wednesday appeared in the Kasama Magistratesā€™ Court for two counts of aggravated robbery.
Mucheleka, Elias Mubanga, Samuel Ngwila and Bwalya Chinyimba have been charged with aggravated robbery.
On September 13, this year the three allegedly used actual violence on Royida Ngosa, a registration officer, as she attempted to restrain them from grabbing various NRC issuance processing machines, belonging to the Department of National Registration and Passport.
In the second count, the accused persons are alleged to have destroyed printer machines while using actual violence.
The matter came before Principal Resident Magistrate, Osward Chibalo while the National Prosecutions Authority, was being represented by Senior Public Prosecutor, John Kafwanka.
The magistrate adjourned the case to September 30 this year for mention while the State is waiting for the instructions from the office Director of Public Prosecutions, as the offences are triable by the high court.
Mucheleka and his co-accused have since been remanded at Kasamaā€™s Milima Correctional Service.
Meanwhile, the five UPND members charged with assault of Gilbert Mulenga and Justine Mulenga also appeared for plea and denied the charges.
Stephen Kunda24, Ronnie Chivube31, Evaristo Mulenga20, Evaristo Siponzya 32 and Stephen Sichilongo 44, have since been granted bail of a K10,000 each in their own recognizance.
