North-west water firm boss sacked

ACKSON MAPAPAYI writes

North Western Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (NWWSSCL) Managing Director Arnnot Chilwesa has been fired.

NWWSSCL board chairperson Christabel Ngimbu has disclosed this in a statement.

Ms Ngimbu said the decision was made during an extraordinary board meeting held on 20 August 2020.

The meeting resolved to terminate the contract of the longest serving managing director at the water utility firm.

“The board has since appointed Director of Engineering John Chilufya as acting Managing director,” she said.

Ms Ngimbu however could not disclose that reason why the board decided to terminate Mr Chilwesa’s contract.

Mr Chilwesa who has been managing director of the water utility company since 1999 confirmed his dismissal in a telephone interview.

“Yes the board wrote to me indicating that they had terminated my contract and I have received the letter,” he said
