According to the UN in Zambia, the objective of the games was to promote good health and well-being among UN staff in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 3 as well as encourage unity in the UN family.
This is the first time that Zambia is hosting the event, with last year’s games having been held in Mpumalanga, South Africa, under the auspices of United Nations South Africa.
