2 FARMERS IN COURT OVER IVORY

TWO farmers denied in a Choma Local Court being in unlawful possession of ivory weighing over 45 kilograms.

Oldwell Moonga, 27, and Arthur Malambo, 29, both farmers of Namwala District, Southern Province, are charged with unlawful possession of prescribed government trophy.

Particulars of the offence are that on August 16, 2019 in Choma, Moonga and Malambo were found with six pieces of ivory weighing 48 kilograms without a certificate of ownership.

When the matter came up for plea before resident magistrate Ethel Phiri both of them denied the charge.

The court entered pleas of not guilty for both.

The case comes up on September 6 and 24, 2019 for trial.

Moonga and Malambo had their bond extended.
