Local artistes Mampi the Queen Diva and Cleo Ice Queen have joined fifth-time nominee Robert Banda famously known as Roberto for nomination in this year’s All Africa Music Awards also referred to as AFRIMA.
The two artistes have been placed in the ‘ Best Female- Southern Africa’ alongside other top acts in the region.
Both Mampi and Cleo have an international appeal and command some meaningful music respect. They both hit international fame when they separately appeared in Big Brother Africa.
The two compete with the likes of Busiswa, Sho Madjozi, Ammara Brown, Zonke and Shashi. Others are Lady X, Bucie and Kelly Khumalo.
The selected artistes are mainly from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Fans can vote for Mampi or Cleo via http://afrimma.com/nominees-for-2019.
For Roberto, he is nominated in the Best Male category competing with some of Africa’s top performers that include AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Emtee, Nasty C, Prince Kaybee and Master KG all from South Africa. Others are Jah Prayzah and EXQ from Zimbabwe.
AFRIMA is an annual awards event. The awards event was established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union (AU) to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage. Its pioneer Awards show was held in 2014.
