A LUSAKA man has been ordered by the Boma Local Court to pay K4, 500, as penalty for damaging the virginity of a girl

Frank Nyirenda, 32, an electrician of Linda Compound was sued by Betty Phiri, 62, a farmer of Lusaka West for deflowering her daughter.

Phiri told presiding senior local court magistrate Ng’andwe Mukuka that in 2010 her son invited his sister to come Lusaka to stay with him.

“By then my daughter was in grade 10 when she came to stay in Lusaka with her brother but after a few days my son called me to report that my daughter was missing for two days.

“I became worried, and travelled to Lusaka to help look for her in in Kuku compound and a day later we found her with Nyirenda in the house where he had taken her,” said Phiri

She said Nyirenda readily accepted and regretted his action and agreed to marry Phiri’s daughter and was charged K5, 000.  “I travelled back to the village and waited for the money. I came to visit my son in 2014 and it was then that my son in-law came with his relatives to pay K500 for damages,K50 nsalamu, a K20 for accepting the matter and K10 to discuss the matter,” Phiri said.
