RESIDENTS of Simaundu village of Chipepo chiefdom are saddened and shocked over the death of a headman identified as Sunday Munsanje also popularly known as ‘One Sibbuku’ who was knocked  down by a moving truck.

Mr. Munsanje,34, died on the spot on Saturday after he was hit by an international Zimbabwean truck driver at around 15:00hours near SGC filling station and Makalaguzu bar.

The remains of headman who was also money changer (have since been deposited in Mtendere Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial tomorrow.

And a senior resident of Simaundu village Cuthbert Miti has described the late Munsanje as a ‘very responsible’ and gallant youngest headman of all the headmen in Chipepo chiefdom.

He said that Mr Munsanje greatly contributed to the good development of the village among them the construction of the Simaundu primary school and some roads in the village.

Mr  Miti said the village was at a great loss and charged that government had kept a deaf ear over the numerous calls to mount speed humps and sign posts on the Chirundu-Lusaka Road from the residents of Chirundu.

The death of Mr. Munsanje comes barely three days after a couple died in similar circumstances on the same road.

Meanwhile, Chirundu central ward councillor Mr. Chrispin Malesu has regretted that road accidents had continued to claim more lives compared to dangerous diseases.
