Bicycle accident leaves two teachers hospitalized

TWO teachers of Mafinga District are nursing serious wounds at Chanama Rural Health Centre after they were involved in a bicycle accident due to overspending.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase who confirmed the accident said it happened on Wednesday at Kapembe village, 15 kilometres south west of Mafinga Boma.

Mr Njase named the accident victims as Bernard Chilambe 30,and Ethan Mukusao 30, both teachers at Chanama Secondary school..

Mr Njase said the accident happened when the teachers failed to control their bicycles due to excessive speed and fell down and sustained serious bodily injuries.

He said both bicycles were extensively damaged in the accident.

“A serious road traffic accident happened on Wednesday, around 14:00hrs,at Kapembe village,15 kilometers south west of Mafinga Boma involving two secondary school teachers after they failed to control their bicycles due to over speeding,”” said Mr Njase

Mr Njase said Mr Chilambe sustained suspected fractured right hand and general body pains, while Mr Mukusao, sustained a deep cut on the head, and suspected fractured right shoulder..

Mr Njase said the two accident victims were currently admitted to Chanama Rural Health Centre for treatment.
