Nkana Football Club midfielder Kelvin Kampamba Mubanga has continued to be in the news for the wrong reasons. He recently refused to shake hands with his coach, Bestone Chambeshi, after being substituted in the 44th minute of the game between Nkana and Ivory Coast’s San Pedro on Saturday.
In a post-match interview, Coach Chambeshi promised to take disciplinary action against Kampamba’s “un sportsmanship conduct” which also resulted in the player being left out of the second leg trip to San Pedro.
But in his recent post, viewed by The Sun on his facebook wall, Kampamba said that he still remained a committed Nkana player despite having been omitted from the team’s outing to Ivory Coast because of disciplinary issues.
“It’s a good day to you all my fellow fans…, I did apologise after the FC San Pedro game over my behaviour … and I think I was disappointed with myself as I was looking forward to that game. I let my fans down as well as the club. We sometimes have bad days’’, he wrote.
‘’We are footballers and being left out of the team is something we all go through and we understand. Football is a team/group sport unlike sports like golf or tennis…’’, he stated.
Kampamba observed that the coach is in charge of the team and players always stood by his decisions.
The player disclosed that he still remained committed to contributing to the team his regrettable action.
He wished his team luck as it engaged San Pedro.
Nkana takes on San Pedro this coming weekend in a second leg of the pre group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup qualifiers, having beaten Ivory Coast 3- 0 in the first league.
Ronald Kampamba, veteran player Joseph Musonda and second half substitute Festus Mbewe netted the goals.
