Most women in Zambia force their husbands to either divorce them or have extra marital affairs because of allowing their maids to do all household chores, says traditional counsellor Edwin Zulu.
Mr Zulu said maids were in most cases assigned to perform some duties that ordinarily a wife should perform for her husband.
He said it was a pity that most housewives, especially the w0rking class, had made it a habit to leave all house chores, including washing of underwear, to their maids.
“It has now become a fashion for most of our marries women, especially those inem0ployment to let their maids do most of house chores which is not supposed to be the case,” said Mr Zulu.
He was of the opinion that that duties such as cooking and washing clothes for the husband should strictly be done by a wife.
“I do not know why women these days do not follow the teachings that their mothers and fathers because it is a taboo for another man’s wife to perform certain duties for another man. I do not know where life is taking us in this generation,” he said.
Mr. Zulu further charged that not all maids looked for jobs with good intentions as others only did it to cause confusion in other people’s homes.
