Police have denied reports claiming that officers have been searching for former President Edgar Lungu at the farms of Dr. Martin Mtonga and Lumezi Member of Parliament Munir Zulu in Lundazi and Lumezi.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga also refuted allegations that police had sealed off Kanele and other locations in Lundazi while searching for the former president.
He emphasized that as a professional law enforcement agency, police conduct all operations with integrity, transparency, and in accordance with the law.
“We want to inform the public that these reports are completely false and fabricated to mislead the nation. At no time have officers been sent to search for the former president at the mentioned locations, nor have we sealed off any areas in Lundazi,” Mr. Hamoonga said.
He further clarified that Mr. Lungu is currently in Lusaka, and the police are fully aware of his whereabouts.
“We urge the public and media outlets to avoid spreading unverified and misleading information that could cause unnecessary panic and confusion. Please rely on official communication from the Zambia Police Service for accurate information about any police activities. We are committed to maintaining peace, law, and order in our nation,” he added.
