Five suspected illegal miners have lost their lives after being trapped at the Green Mountain TD52 mine in Kitwe. The miners were buried under soil when the tailing dam they were working at collapsed.
Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba, confirmed that the bodies have been recovered and transported to Kitwe Teaching Hospital.
“The situation is now calm, and police officers have taken the bodies to the mortuary at Kitwe Teaching Hospital,” he stated.
