28-year-old woman from Chingola arrested for abduction of four children.

Police in Chingola have arrested a 28-year-old woman from Kapisha for abducting four children and sending them to a farm in Kalulushi District to herd cattle. The incident occurred on September 12, 2024, in the Kapisha area.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba, confirmed the arrest to RISE FM NEWS, identifying the suspect as Debora Sinyangwe, aged 28. According to Mr. Mweemba, the case was reported on September 19, 2024, by a 43-year-old woman whose 11-year-old son went missing. She received information that her son and three other children had been abducted by Sinyangwe.

Upon her arrest, Sinyangwe revealed that the children had been taken to Chisangwe Farm Block in Kalulushi by her mother, Rosemary Chabu, to herd cattle. So far, two of the children, Isaac Kazembe (11) and Aaron Mungulube (13), have been released and brought back to Chingola by farm worker Brian Kalamba, who has also been detained to assist police in locating the remaining two boys.

The two children still at the farm have been identified as Moses (13) and Justine (14). Mr. Mweemba also mentioned that the parents of the other three children have yet to be located, and investigations are ongoing.
