Twins Left at Police Officer’s Residence in Chingola; Efforts to Locate Their Mother Ongoing

An unidentified individual has reportedly left two babies, suspected to be twins, at a police officer’s home in Chingola.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba informed the media that the babies were found sleeping in the officer’s backyard around 8:00 PM.

Officer Helen Masakamika, who is stationed at Nchanga Police Station, had gone to the market around 7:00 PM. Upon her return an hour later, she discovered the two babies abandoned near her front door.

Mweemba noted that the babies appeared to be healthy, so Officer Masakamika sought help from her neighbors to identify them, but no one recognized them.

Following this, the babies were taken to Nchanga Police Station for formal reporting, and subsequently to Nchanga North General Hospital, where they are currently receiving care in Ward 7.

Mr. Mweemba stated that efforts are ongoing to determine the identity of the person or the mother who left the babies.
