Vice President Mutale Nalumango has announced that the government has established High Courts in all provincial capitals to improve the efficient delivery of justice. Mrs. Nalumango emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring justice is accessible to everyone, as demonstrated by the increased budget allocation for criminal justice institutions to enhance their operations.
She urged these institutions to leverage each other’s experience and capacity to develop effective crime prevention and response strategies. The Vice President made these remarks while opening the National Annual Prosecutors Conference in Lusaka.
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Gilbert Phiri highlighted that combating crime is a global issue that requires international cooperation for success.
Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha challenged prosecutors to ensure that justice is upheld in all cases.
Namibia’s Prosecutor General Olyvia Imalwa added that international collaboration between criminal justice institutions is crucial for recovering assets and resources that have been corruptly acquired and hidden in other countries.
Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) President Lungisani Zulu, represented by LAZ Vice President Matilda Kaoma, noted that transnational and cybercrimes are becoming increasingly sophisticated and cannot be effectively addressed if prosecutors and law enforcement agencies work in isolation.
