A LUSAKA Maid has found herself in hot soup after she was caught stealing assorted plates, spoons, clothes and other items all valued at over K20, 000.
Appearing in the Lusaka magistrate court before magistrate Kelvin Soma was Annastasia Phiri, 32, accused of one count of theft, one count of theft by servant and one count of house breaking and theft Contrary to Section 301(a) and 272 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Phiri denied stealing the said properties and pleaded not guilty to all counts.
In count one, it is alleged that Phiri on the December,10 2022 in Lusaka being employed by Jacob Kwenye as a maid did steal 1 motor vehicle battery valued at K1,550-00 the property of Kwenye.
In count two, Phiri on March, 28 2022 in Lusaka with intent to steal did break into the dwelling house of Jacob Kwenye and did steal therein 1 phone valued at K 6000-00 the property of Kwenye.
Details in the last count, it is alleged that Phiri on the date unknown but between April,1 2019 and December 10, 2022 in Lusaka being employed by Laheli Lengesela as maid did steal assorted plates, assorted spoons, assorted clothes and hand bag altogether valued at K12,270-00 the property of Laheli.
Trial continues.
