Govt hailed for scrapping off excise duty on petroleum

ENERGY Expert Boniface Zulu has applauded government for scrapping of excise duty on petroleum products.

Speaking in an interview with Millennium TV, Mr Zulu says this will ensure stable in-flow of the commodity in the country.

He says this will also stop the exploitation of consumers because in the recent past the prices were exorbitant.

The energy expert says it likely that the prices of the commodity will stabilise which will eventually improve the country’s economy. Mr Zulu states that the prices have negatively impacted affected the economy which will be the thing of the past.

Mr Zulu also says in order to counteract the current trend of monthly fuel price increases, it is necessary to expedite the construction of ethanol and petroleum blending plants.

He says it is important that the country have alternative of fuel so that the continued monthly price adjustment can be stopped.
