WE were voted for by the people that we represent and our conduct is not controlled by the allowance that comes with being in parliament, Leader of Opposition and Mporokoso PF Member of Parliament Brian Mundubile has said.
Mr Mundubile said as Members of Parliament, they were aggrieved by the speaker’s remarks that all the MP’s that walked out of parliament during the debate of the private firms auditing security wings forfeited their allowance.
But Mr Mundubile said that it was unfortunate a false impression had been created that as the MPs were attending Parliament for the sole purpose of earning allowances.
Mr Mundubile said the Patriotic Front (PF) lawmakers were particularly aggrieved that it was the Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti who could chose to politically embarrass the MPs by shouting the freezing of their K2, 000 allowances.
He said that their allegiance was to the people that voted for them and that their conduct was not controlled for that K2000.
“Madam Speaker I would like to put it on record that that is an insult to the members of Parliament that are elected by the people.” He said.
On Friday PF MP’s walked out of parliament after the speaker gagged Lunte MP Mutotwe Kafwaya who quizzed the vice president over the audits of security wings by private audit firms.
