Police in Lusaka have gunned down six armed robbers.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says the incident happened on Friday around 14:00 hours after engaging in a heavy exchange of gun fire.
Mr Hamoonga said the incidence occurred along Kasupe road in Lusaka west.
He said the facts of the matter were that on Friday around 13:00 hours, police received intelligence information about suspected criminals who were about to stage a robbery at a Chinese Company along Kasumpe Road.
Mr Hamoonga said the police mobilised and managed to spot the vehicle for suspected criminals as given by the informant.
He said when the criminals noticed the presence of officers, they opened fire against the officers which prompted officers to retaliate gunning down all the suspects.
