Teachers refusing to teach in rural areas – Minister

By NAMO PHIRI

My office is aware that there are teachers who are refusing to go and teach in the rural areas of central province, Central Province Minister Credo Nanjuwa has confirmed.

Mr Nanjuwa said in an interview that he was aware that there were some teachers that had been refusing to go and report for work in rural areas. He said his office was trying to gather information in terms of numbers as to the exact people who are refusing to go report for work in rural areas.

Mr Nanjuwa said his office was trying to get actual numbers of the teachers and which places they were refusing to go to so that they knew the real situation on the ground.

He said a decision would be made thereafter as to what would happen to the people found to be refusing to go and teach in the rural areas.
