Cristiano Ronaldo almost carried the whole Man United team on his shoulders last season but as per multiple reports, the forward wishes to leave this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo is not happy with United’s transfer business which is why he’s reportedly asked his agent to scout for a new club.
He wrote on Twitter: “Cristiano Ronaldo told Man United he wants to leave this summer as he wants to see more ambition. Man Utd are still hopeful of keeping CR7, but aware of decision.
“Cristiano has no agreement with any other club. Mendes explored options for weeks and will continue.”
Towards the end of the 2021/22 season, there were rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo could leave if Manchester United don’t make it into the Champions League and now those fears seem to be coming to the forefront.
Erik ten Hag has decided to keep his faith in Cristiano Ronaldo as his main centre-forward next season but if he leaves so abruptly then the new boss will be under a lot of stress.
He’s already missed out on Darwin Nunez and if Ronaldo is leaving then it will be really challenging for the club to find an ideal replacement so quickly.
Man United can try and pick up their pace in the transfer market within a very short span of time but they will still have to play in the Europa League next season and this is the major issue for CR7.
A player like him doesn’t want to play in the second tier of Europe and unless United can sign some massively big-name players, it will be really hard for ETH to hold onto Ronaldo.
It’s only been a few hours since the likes of Romano, Duncan Castles and Times Sport and already some big clubs are being linked with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bayern Munich and Napoli have all enquired about Cristiano Ronaldo and Premier League side Chelsea are also said to be interested in signing the Portuguese forward. The Athletic are claiming that Jorge Mendes has already met Chelsea’s owners over a possible transfer as Thomas Tuchel eyes a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
Man United are adamant that Ronaldo is not up for sale but if he is really serious about leaving then the club are helpless.
With each passing day, newer clubs will take interest in signing him and if someone is ready to offer him the chance to play in the UCL and can also guarantee him trophies then there’s a very big possibility that he will leave in the coming weeks.
