6 churchmembers drown on Lake Kariba

6 churchmembers drown on Lake Kariba

SIAVONGA Town Council Fire Brigade and the state police have retrieved six bodies, members of Seventh Day Ad- ventist Church in Lusaka who drowned on Siavonga’s Lake Kariba.

The youths who had visit- ed the district for a seven-day youth conference meeting which commenced on De- cember 26 ,2021 to January 1, 2022 met their after they went swimming in the lake shore of Lake Kariba.

This is according to a statement issued to the Dai- ly Nation by Council Public Relations Officer Gwendolyn Mwanza Mchenga.

“As a local authority, I would like to commend our Fire Brigade led by the Divi- sional Fire Officer Maliwanda Sikalangwe and his team, the state police and the Siavonga Seventh day Adventist church youth team for responding with utmost urgency and managing to retrieve the five bodies which were later de- posited at Siavonga District Hospital Mortuary,” she said

The victims aged between 18 and 23 have been identified as Goodson Hamaila, Niza Muchiliba, Zebron Shitambo, Ronald Libuka, Rodwell Chil- eshe and Allan Mwaanga all of Lusaka.
