LET’S ERADICATE POVERTY – CHIEF MUMENA OF KALUMBILA

JACKSON MAPAPAYI writes

LEADERS at all levels should take keen interest in the eradication of poverty in their communities, Chief Mumena of Kalumbila district has advised.

The traditional leader of the Kaonde speaking people noted that eradication of poverty should be prioritised in order to improve the living standards of the people.

He said poverty reduction was a leadership assignment and that every leader must be interested in the welfare of their people.

“As a leader I know how my people are living and surviving. It is therefore my humble appeal to all leaders at every level to ensure that they fight poverty by engaging their people,” he said.

Chief Mumena said there was need for concerted efforts by all stakeholders to eradicate poverty in communities.

He since advised leaders to work closely with community members in ensuring that poverty was completely eradicated.

He also urged community members to always engage their leaders on matters that border on poverty as no single person could fight vice single-handedly hence the need for collaboration.
